RHEA WENDT, 92, passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Duluth, Minn., she worked as a reading specialist with Marion Indiana Community Schools and previously with the Kokomo Community Schools. She taught for 35 years before retiring. She is survived by her daughters, Paula A. Drewek of Warren, Mich. and Rhea Lundby of Denmark; son, Tony Akemann of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Christopher (Rae) Drewek of Pinckney, Mich., Matthew R. Akemann, Emily Akemann, and Nathan Akemann, all of San Diego, Calif., and Douglas (Ann) Drewek of Warren; adopted son, Homand (Rachel) Bahrami of Muncie; and great-granddaughter, Denice Drewek. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 30 years, Richard W. Akemann; second husband of 30 years, Thomas F. Wendt; parents, Victor H. and Hilja S Gran. Service is 11 a.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, with calling one hour prior. Burial in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Ind. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
