Former East Alton resident Dorothy M. Pyle, 102, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2010, at Canterbury Manor Nursing Center in Waterloo.

Born December 2, 1907, in Barrow Station, Ill., she was the daughter of Alexander and Lola Mae (Crabtree) Bell.

She was a teacher in several local schools.

She married Harold E. Pyle on September 17, 1944, in White Hall. He died in December 1985.

She is suvivied by several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband two brothers, Charlie and Lawrence Bell, and a sister, Delores Walker, all preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m until time of service at 10 a.m. Friday, August 27, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Pastor Lee Jackson will officate.

Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the United Pentacostal Church in Wood River where she had been a member.
