John Henry Albers, born July 29, 1873 at Pleasant Ridge, Illinois. He was baptised, instructed and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Pleasant Ridge, Illinois.
In 1899 he came to Nebraska, first in the neighborhood north of Shelton, but soon after into the community of Palmer and lived in this community ever since. When St. John's Church was organized in September, 1901, he was one of the charter members, and remained a voting member all the while.
On March 6, 1902, he was married to Miss Lena Burkhardt at Worms by the Rev. J. D. Schroeder. His beloved wife passed away March 8, 1943, after which he left the farm and moved to Palmer.
About 3 years ago he suffered a severe stroke, but rallied again and lived in our local Coolidge Hospital until about two weeks ago he was stricken with a severe and painful heart ailment.
He passed away Thursday morning, December 4, 1952, at 5 o'clock at an age of 79 years, 4 months and 5 days. He is survived by a step-son, John Burkhardt, of Palmer, an adopted son, Herman Albers, Caldwell, Idaho, and adopted daughter, Mrs. Else Marquardt of Chapman, Nebr., one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law, 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.
