Fred was a farmer in Manitowoc Rapids at the time of his death. Prior to that he spent some years out west as a cowboy and stage coach driver in Yellowstone Park. He was well know and respected. Fred died at a young age when one night his car drove off the 8th street bridge into the water. Excerpts from obituary Manitowoc Herald News November 30, 1918
