Davis Billings died in Black Rock, Arkansas. From a letter from his daughter-in-law, Ella (Harkless) Billings, wife of William Monroe Billings, to Davis's daughter, Anga Marie (Billings) Foster, we know that William Monroe Billings went to Black Rock to bring the body of his father back to Lamar, Missouri. The letter states that he was buried "beside mother" meaning beside Ella (Harkless) Billings's mother, Sarah M. (McConn) Harkless who was buried in Oakton Cemetery, but whose body was later moved to Lamar. The mortuary records for November 1888 are missing.
