Mrs. Minnie Stumpff, widow of the late Edward Stumpff, a long time and prominent citizen of the Cato community east of Cassville, passed away Friday night, after a very brief illness of a stroke.
She had been in her usual health. That afternoon she had attended a funeral. About five o'clock that afternoon she was stricken and passed away at about ten o'clock that night, only five hours later.
Minnie Stahl, daughter of David L. and Alice Elliott Stahl, was born on August 22, 1875 in Grundy county Missouri. She was 69 years old.
When quite small, she moved with her parents to Holden, in Johnson county, Missouri. November 26, 1894, she was united in marriage to Edgar Stumpff who died July 6, 1940. To this union five children were born: Walter, who died in infancy; Olen and Earnest Stumpff of Cato; Mrs. Troy Short of Vienna, and Paul Stumpff of Cato. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ida Stumpff and Mrs. Ollie Cox of Holden; two brothers, Sam Stahl of Windsor and Curtis Stahl of Holden; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A few days after her marriage she came to Barry County, where she had lived the last 50 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ and lived her religion in her daily life. Her christian influence and many deeds of kindness will long be remembered by all those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held at the Mineral Springs Church Monday afternoon, November 27, with the Rev. Coy Porter in charge. Interment in the Mineral Springs cemetery under the direction of Culver's funeral home.
