Thurman Dallas Hill, age 79, of Green Bank, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.

Born August 2, 1931, at Green Bank, he was a son of the late Clifton Lawrence and Nannie Oliver Mann Hill.

Thurman retired after 39 years with Howe's Leather Company and was a member of the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren and a born again Christian who loved the Lord. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the VFW, American Legion and an original member of the Pocahontas County Honor Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Susan Matheny and Dollie Ryder; and three brothers, Hunter "Pete" Hill, Neil Hill and Leroy Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ellen Shiflett Hill; a daughter, Mary Margaret Hill, of Arbovale; two sons, Johnny Lawrence Hill, and wife, Renee, of Green Bank, and William Dallas Hill, of Arbovale; a sister, Eleanor Hill, of Green Bank; a brother, Paul Hill, of Green Bank; two grandchildren, Melissa Dawn Taylor, and husband, Chris, and Jo Autumn Nicole Hill; a special great-granddaughter, Allyson Paige Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Friday, August 27, from 6 -8 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale. Funeral service is Saturday, August 28, at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Church of the Brethren with Revs. David Rittenhouse and Julian Rittenhouse officiating. Interment with military rites will be in the Arbovale Cemetery.
