Larry D. Frederick, 69, of Fostoria, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at his residence with his family at his side.

He was born January 6, 1941 in West Millgrove to the late Thomas and Zeda (Moberley) Frederick. He married Nancy Runion in 1965 and together they had two children, Jeff and Jenni then later divorced. He then married the love of his life, and wife of 18 years, Theresa (Zoeller) Gayheart in Las Vegas on July 20, 1992, and she survives in Fostoria.

Also surviving are his children, Jeff (Cathy) Frederick, Findlay, and Jenni Fruth, Pemberville; step-daughter, Christina Gayheart, Tampa, Fla; grandsons, Bill and Scott Keller, Kyle Fruth, granddaughter, Jamie Fruth; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Billy, Damien and Kenzi Keller; brother, Ricky (Linda) Frederick, Findlay; "extra grandchildren", Caleb and Logan Colburn, Fostoria; mother-in-law, Grace M. Zoeller, Bellevue; sisters-in-law, Rita A. Fields, Port Clinton, and Nancy Frederick, New Riegel; many nieces and nephews; and good friends, Fred and Bessie Smith, Fostoria.

He was preceded in death by brothers Thomas and Edward Frederick, and sister-in-law Carolyn Frederick. Larry graduated from Fostoria High School, Class of 1959. He went into the Navy shortly after graduation and traveled all over the world. He was on watch aboard the USS Independence off Cuba during the "Bay of Pigs" crisis.

Larry worked as a pole climber for 11 years for Ohio Power, as an electrician at Airfoil in Fostoria for 23 years, and as an electrician at Chrysler Perrysburg for 14 years, retiring from there in May of 2007. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 73 and Loyal Order of the Moose in Fostoria. Larry loved spending time at his trailer at Knecht's Beach in Port Clinton. He loved to sit and watch the Jet Express go to and fro to Put-In-Bay. In his later years, he enjoyed fishing on his own boat the "Ruby Rose". Larry had many friends, especially those at the American Legion Post 73, Fostoria and the "crew" from Chrysler.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 4-9 p.m. at MANN-HARE-HOENING Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, where funeral services will begin on Friday at 1 p.m. with an hour of visitation prior to the service, Rev. Gary Adams will officiate. The United Veterans of Fostoria will provide military honors. Memorial contributions are requested to Community Hospice Care, Tiffin.
