JOSEPH HOMER COOK

Joseph Homer Cook, age 84, retired merchant and Yell county official, of Ola, died Friday from injuries received in an automobile wreck near Dardanelle, after being taken to a Russellville hospital. The Cook family has been prominent in Yell County affairs for many years. Mr. Cook was a native of Mount George, Yell County, a son of Wm. Hume and Angeline George Cook. He had been a teacher in Yell County, schools, and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors are three sons, Leo Cook, of Little Rock, Leon Cook, of Texas City, Texas, and Joe Cook, of St. Louis, two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Brenner, of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Anna Gayle Beard, of Galveston, Texas, two brothers, Claude Cook. of Centerville, and Virgil Cook, of Dardanelle, one sister; Mrs. Esther Allen, of Centerville, eight grandchildren and one great grandson. His wife died in 1950.

Funeral services were held at the Ola Methodist Church Sunday afternoon with the Pastor, Rev. frank Weatherford, officiating. Burial was in Ola Cemetery. Nephews were casket bearers. Services were in care of the Cornwell Funeral Service of Dardanelle.
