Raymond D. Krout, 85, of North Highland Drive, Shrewsbury, died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday at his winter home at Lakeland Florida. He was the husband of Irene (Craley) Heffner-Krout and of the late Pauline (Seak) Krout and the late Mary (Stump) Krout.
The service will be at Christ Lutheran Church, 105 S. Main St. Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Shrewsbury Lutheran cemetery. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the J J. Hartenstein Mortuary Inc., 24 Second St. New Freedom, and 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
Mr. Krout was born July 22, 1909, at Seven Valleys. He was the son of Jacob G. and Clara E. (Dise) Krout.
He was a builder and developer for over twenty years in Shrewsbury and New Freedom including Eastern View Homes (Krout Development) in Shrewsbury.
Mr. Krout was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Shrewsbury, and of Faith Lutheran Church at Lakeland and attended St. Luke's Lutheran, Felton. Previously he was a member of Friedensaal's Lutheran Church, Seven Valleys, where he was a Sunday School superintendent, teacher, and choir member for many years.
He was a member of Shrewsbury Lions Club having served as president in 1973.
Mr. Krout is survived by two daughters, Faye Hall of Red Lion and Virginia Beck of Seven Valleys RD 2; a sep-son, Jack Heffner of Brogue; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and a sister Florence Stump of Shrewsbury.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. James W. Weis of Christ Lutheran Church, the Rev. Joseph R. Shanley of St. Luke Lutheran Church, and the Rev. Kenneth Weaver, a retired Luthean pastor.
