KNOXVILLE - Ethel M. McKie, 93, Knoxville Route 1, formerly of Oneida, died at home Friday at 6 a.m.
She was born near Victoria on May 8, 1896. She was the daughter of William W. and Matilda Newberg Hedstrom. She married Arthur Thomas McKie in Victoria on June 25, 1919. He died Sept. 14, 1963.
Surviving are one daughter, Dorothy King, with whom she lived for the past 11 years at Knoxville Route 1; one sister, Grace Marie Shultz, Toulon; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
She was reared and educated in Victoria, and graduated from Brown's Business College, Galesburg. She and her husband farmed near Oneida, and she also worked as a secretary at the former Wainwright clothing store in Galesburg. She was a member of Victoria United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors of America Victoria Camp, and Warrensford American Legion Post 726 Auxiliary in Victoria. She was a charter member of the Knox County Home Extension Unit and the Happy Hour Canasta Club.
Funeral will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Victoria United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul E. White officiating. Friends may call in Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Oneida, Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be in Oneida Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Prairieland Hospice Inc. or to Victoria United Methodist Church, the family said.
