Manitowoc Herald News, June 26, 1924 P. 1 : "CHARLES BULL DIES RESULT OF AN INJURY Charles Bull, 82, veteran of the Civil War and one of the few remaining members of the Horace M. Walker Post, G.A. R., passed away at the family home, 929 South Twenty-fourth street early Wednesday morning, after an illness of several years. Mr. Bull suffered a fall four years ago, and was incapacitated since that time. On Sunday he suffered a stroke from which he failed to recover. Born in Germany January 28, 1842 Mr. Bull came to this country with his family, settling at Milwaukee at the age of ten. A few years later they removed to this county having made their home here since. At the age of eighteen Mr. Bull enlisted in Company C, Ninth Wisconsin National guard with whom he served throughout the Civil War. After the war he returned to Manitowoc and was active in politics having served on the County Board as a supervisor from the Town of Rapids. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 oclock from the late home, 529 South Twenty-fourth street, and burial will be made at Evergreen cemetery, Rev. O. A. Menke to officiate at the services. Those who survive are his widow, Mrs. Minnie Bull, one daughter, Mrs. C. Holst of Chicago, by former marriage and one stepson Robert Schmidt, also from there. Eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive."
