Jack was the son of John William and Charlotte Evans. John William Evans had at least three brothers and according to family lore, Evansville, Ohio is believed to have been named for them.

Jack Evans married Emma May (Hake) Hood on December 28, 1918 in Alliance, Nebraska. Emma had been married previously to Clinton Irve Hood. Emma and Clinton had no children and divorced prior to 1903. Jack and Emma had one child Ardith Jean Evans who married Oscar Michael Keane in 1937, also in Alliance.
