Samuel M Sharp enlisted in Company I, 4th Iowa Infantry Regiment on February 16, 1865 and was mustered out on July 24, 1865 at Louisville, KY. He originally had a GAR marker at his grave site. Brothers Martin and Thomas both served with the same regiment. Thomas died at St. Louis, Missouri on May 10, 1862, burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Martin moved to Washington State, where he is buried at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens.
