Frank Marion Welty, son of Marcellus and Minerva Welty, was born in Jerico Springs, Mo., on April 21, 1896, and passed away from this life July 31, 1957 at the age of 61 years, 3 months and 10 days.

At an early age be moved to Arcadia, Kansas.

In 1918 he answered the call of his country to serve in the armed forces for 18 months during World War I. During his young life he worked in the coal mines at Adel. He also farmed in Nebraska. Before returning to Iowa two years ago he worked for 8 years in the oil fields in Long Beach.

May 1, 1955 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Berdice Wilson who survives him. He is also survived by 5 children by a former marriage: Archie Welty, Burney, Cal., Mrs. Evelyn Kelly, Frontenac, Kansas, Betty Welty, Garden Grove, Cal., Mrs. Vada Woolverton, Long Beach, Calif., Bob Welty, West Sacramento, Cal. There are also 9 grandchildren, 3 sisters and 1 brother, Mrs. Tom Garrett, Neosho, Mo., Mrs. Lawrence Simpson, Parsons, Kan., Charles O'Dell, Arcadia, Kan.

Funeral services were held at the Bender Funeral Home Aug. 3, conducted by Rev. Robert Duckett of the Christian Church. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery at Lenox with military services.
