Martha was the daughter of James Biggs and Nellie Allbritton, she married James Harvey Lamm, son of John Lamm and Elizabeth Fulgham. They married in 1858.
On September 02, 1862 they had a son Walter Lee, he died on August 09, 1863 and is buried in Graves County, Kentucky.
In the summer of 1866, Martha, James and their four children, Annie Elizabeth, Joseph Thomas (Joe), William David (Will) and infant son Luther Winslow (Luth) migrated to Texas. They migrated with several other families. James was ill when they left Kentucky and he had to hire someone to drive his oxen-driven wagon. They arrived at Sulphur in Hopkins County, Texas and lived there for two years. They moved to Hunt Co. Texas where they lived the rest of their lives. James was a farmer, teacher, and a Presbyterian circuit rider. His preaching caused him to be away from home for long extended time. During his absence his Martha occasionally had to protect the livestock form wolves and wildcats.
After their arrival to Texas, James and Martha had seven more children, John Adams, James Harvey (Harv), Emory Caleb (Em), Ida May, Jesse Young (Dock), Martha Elizabeth (Bet), and Mary Alice.
After James's death Martha became a Pentecostal preacher and also traveled like her husband did.
