Omer Jalmah was a much loved and generous man.He married Cora Alice Patterson October 10, 1907. They had two children: Sedellmae B.April 1, 1919, and Omer John B. June 9, 1924.
He owned a grocery store in Brightwood. His son Omer John, said of his father, " My dad extended credit during difficult times to many who were trying to support their families. He told me, "Son, if a man's children are starving and I have food on my shelves I cannot refuse him." He was trustee of the La Salle Street Evangelical United Brethren Church.
He had a prayer closet he visited daily for quiet communion with his Lord, and loved reading his bible. A better man never lived...he is still held lovingly in the hearts of those that knew him.
