Rev. James Verlon Agan, age 72, of Villa Rical, Georgia, passed away, Wednesday, May 31, 2006 ar (at) Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica. Born in Dallas, Georgia on August 10, 1933, he was the son of the late Willie B. Agan, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mallie Elizabeth White Agan. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and retired from General Motors Corporation. He was ordained as a Preacher of the Gospel in 1957. He served as Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Winston, Eastside Baptist Church in Carrollton, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Newnan and Sunnyside Baptist Church in Lithia Springs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Elizabeth Agan Washington and brothers, Wilburn Luther, "W. L." Agan and Harold Stewart Agan.

Surviving are his sisters and brother-in-law, Genell Weathington, Charles and Lillie Mae Agan, Shearel and Janice Agan, Rev. Danny Agan and W.B. and Carolyn Agan, all of Winston, Rev. Champ and Diane Agan of Ft. Oglethorpe, Barbara and Luther Young of Summerville and Joyce Gordon of Franklin; sister-in-law, Debbie Agan of Lithia Springs; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2006 from Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Reverends Terry Marbut, Johnny White, Tim Stephens officiating.

The interment followed at Garden of the Cross at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens with Rev. Rodney Agan, Kenneth Washington, Dennis Weathington, Michael Agan, Donald Gordon, Jason Agan, Kevin Agan, and Keith Agan serving as pallbearers.

Jones-Wynn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
