Mrs. Mary A. Riley

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, May 21, at the Shinn's Run Baptist church for Mrs. Mary A. Riley, 81, of 940 Hood avenue, this city, who died suddenly at 11 o'clock Friday night at her home of a heart ailment. The Rev. F. Russell Purday, pastor of the First Baptist Church, of this city, officiated, assisted by the Rev. L. E. Bailey, pastor of the Shinn's Run church. The pall-bearers were L. A. Righter, M. U. Swiger[*1], George Stewart, Charles Harmer, B. L. Duty and E. V. Richardson[*2]. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Riley was born at Bingamon, the daughter of the late John A. and Melinda Martin Richardson, who was a great granddaughter [of] Col. Charles Martin, who built Fort Martin. She was a resident of Harrison county during her entire life. She was marri[ed to] the late James K. Riley, who di[ed] in 1920. For many years Mr. and Mrs. Riley resided at Bridgeport, and then moved to a farm on Shinn's run. After Mr. Riley's death, Mrs. Riley made her home in this city.
She was a member of the Shinn's Run Baptist church, and was connected with many church organizations. She was the last member of a family of seven children, o[f] whom the late F. C. Richardson , o[f] Shinnston was one.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Miss Ora D. Riley, at home; and Mrs. Ashby Bice, of Clarksburg; and the following sons, Otto B. Riley, Pittsburgh; Earl Riley, Pittsburgh; the Rev. Garnett M. Riley, Baptist minister, of Trenton, N. J., and six grandchildren.
Among relatives here for the funeral were: Mrs. Lee Hornick[*3], of McKeesport, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Earle Riley [an]d sons, Walter and Robert, of Pittsburgh; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Riley, and daughter, Agnes, of Pittsburgh; and the Rev. Riley, of Trenton, N. J.
