1881 Sangamon County biography states that he was a draftsman and architect and resided in Springfield.

Maj. George T. Fisher, a member of the Governor's Guard Veteran corps and a national guardsman for many years, died last night at his residence, age 76 years, 11 months and 9 days. He was born in Springfield, July 28, 1851, and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a carpenter by trade and was a member of Carpenter's Union No. 16 and Modern Woodmen Camp. For more than ten years Mr. Fisher was employed in the state auditor's office. Surviving are his wife, Ellenia Blair Fisher; three daughters, Genevieve, Mrs. J. H. Lotzgeselle and Sarah Fisher; sister Lillie, four grandchildren.
