St. George, UT - Joy Kitchen passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010. Born in Salem, Oregon, Marion County on March 30, 1943 to Glen and Minnie Tierce. They were farm owners in the Willamette Valley, Oregon for many years.
She worked as a legal secretary for 40 years. She ended her career working in the Social Security Court System in the St. George, Utah, Las Vegas, Nevada region.
Married to Floyd E. Kitchen in 1972 in San Fernando, California. They retired in 2004 in St. George, Utah after selling their home in Woodburn, Oregon.
Joy always wore a bright smile and had people smiling all around her. There were no strangers to Joy.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughters: Deni Jo Shinn of Castle Rock, CO and Jacki Shinn (Dr. Craig) Berlinberg of Saratoga, CA; sister, Glenda Blair of Little North Santian, OR. She leaves granddaughters: Sarah Shinn of Castle Rock, CO, Elyse, Kayla and Jenna Berlinberg of Saratoga, CA and two grandsons, Wesley and Justin Amescus of Colorado.
Joy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and good friend to everyone that loved her. She will surely be missed, however, her Spirit will live on amongst us forever.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning, September 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, UT. A visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the mortuary with Bishop Joe Langston of the Green Valley LDS 3rd Ward officiating. Interment will be at Tonaquint Cemetery.
