HARVEY EDWIN DECKER
Harvey Edwin Decker, son of Joseph and Josephine Decker was born on a ranch near Lake City, Kansas. He passed from this life June 26, 1960 at the St. Marys Hospital in North Platte, Nebraska. He had attained the age of 73 years. When as a small boy he moved with his parents to Cameron, Missouri where he grew to manhood. He began working for the C.B. & Q. Railroad at the early age of 15. He moved to Brookfield in Linn County, Missouri in 1910. One December 23, 1917 he was married to Stella Phelps. To this union two children were born and in 1931 they adopted a little boy which he loved and cherished very much. In 1929 he moved his family to Indanola in Red Willow County, Nebraska, where they lived until 1942 when they moved to Curtis. Here he was employed at the Ag School until he to quit because of illness. He was baptized in the Park Baptist Church and united with them in Missouri. While living in Indanola he transferred his membership to the First Christian Church and remained a member until his death. He is survived by his wife,Stella; one daughter, Mrs.Faye Peterson of Curtis; two sons, Donald of Miami,Fla., and Leo of North Platte; one sister, Mrs. Ada Batman of Prescott, Arizona; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Services were held Thursday in the Congregational Church in Curtis with Rev. Homer E. Blough and Pastor Wilmer Severns officiating. Interment was in Curtis Cemetery.
