Under "US, Civil War Soldier's Records and Profiles" he is shown to have died of disease without specifying which it was. But the odd info is that it states at the bottom "POW, Exchanged for Chesty S. Coffey, 19 MS." This is clearly an error in Army records that has been added to his gravestone.
