In Memory of McREE SWIFT, Civil Engineer,
Son of General Joseph G. Swift, U. S. A. and Louisa M. Swift,
Born in New York, April 15, 1819,
Died on Easter Morning, April 5, 1896,
at New Brunswick, N. J.
And of ABBY HORTENSE SWIFT, his wife,
Daughter of Thomas J. Chew and Abby Hortense Chew,
Born in Brooklyn, N. Y. December 17, 1821,
Died on Easter Day, April 10, 1898,
at New Brunswick, N. J.
“Faithful soldiers and servants of Christ unto their lives end.”

Green-Wood Cemetery
Section 90, Lot 1409.
A view of the CHEW/SWIFT lot. This lot was purchased in 1846 by Abby Hortense Chew. It passed to her heirs after her death in 1874. Ten memorial stones (and two generic “Mother” “Father” footstones in front of the Andrew and Helen Hall monument) stand on this lot. The stone for McRee and Abby Swift is at the center of the front row.
