NEW CARLISLE - Larry O. Bromley, 76, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2010, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 11, 1934, to the late William O. and Lucy (Wolff) Bromley in LaPorte, IN, and had lived in New Carlisle, IN, for 42 years. Along with his parents, one daughter, Cynthia Bromley, also preceded him in death. Mr. Bromley retired in 1992 from Hass Concrete Products in South Bend, IN, where he worked as a truck driver for 35 years. He was also actively involved with the Bromley family farm. On November 2, 1952, he married Barbara A. Michalski in South Bend, IN. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara A. (Michalski) of New Carlisle, IN; two daughters, Sally Ambrose of Fort Wayne, IN, and Rita (Thomas) Mrozinski of Rolling Prairie, IN; two sons, Mark (Cheryl) Bromley of New Carlisle, IN, and Michael (Ann) Bromley of New Carlisle, IN; 10 grandchildren, Joseph and Justin Bromley, Melissa and Jacob Bromley, Catherine and Heather Mrozinski, Jason and Jamie Wayer, Eric and Aaron Phovemire; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elaine (John) Kujawa of South Bend, IN. Larry and Barb loved spending the winters in Florida. He enjoyed fishing, farming, warm weather, his family, and doing projects with his children and grandchildren. Larry was also an avid reader of mystery novels. He graduated from New Carlisle High School in 1952 where he played both basketball and track. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2010, in New Carlisle United Methodist Church, 300 Compton Street, New Carlisle, IN, where friends may visit from 9-11 a.m. A private burial will take place at New Carlisle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Carlisle Ambulance Service Fund, P.O. Box 350, New Carlisle, IN 46552; or to the Olive Township 4-H Club, 56346 Tulip Road, New Carlisle, IN 46552. Kaniewski Funeral Home, New Carlisle, IN, is handling arrangements.
