EDWARD S BARNARD
Phoenix - Edward S Barnard, 65, husband of Catherine Kretchman Barnard, 396 Main St, died Monday evening at St Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse where he had been a patient since Jan 4.
Born in Phoenix, he was a life resident of the area. He graduated from the Phoenix High School in 1931 and from Oswego College in 1935 where he was an industrial arts major. He was in the printing business since 1927 and had worked for Sealright Co of Fulton, Midstate Offset and City Press, Syracuse. He owned and operated the Phoenix Press since 1950.
Mr Barnard also taught at Smith Tech and served in the Army from 1942 until 1945, taking part in the North African invasion and served until the end of the war in Italy. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Phoenix, Callimachus Lodge No 369 F & AM, Chamber of Commerce, Phoenix VFW No 5540, American Legion of Liverpool, Elks Club of Fulton and the Senior Citizens of Phoenix and Clay.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs Barbara Reyes of Liverpool; two grandchildren and a sister, Mrs Marjorie Barber of Phoenix.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 pm at the Allenson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 919 Main St Phoenix, with the Rev Terrance E Millbuyer, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 in the funeral home.
