Greater Centreville Historians Jan/Feb Newsletter: "the Rieck family . . Settled in Spring Valley (Meeme Township) in 1853. A son, Carl, born in 1848 in Mecklen-

burg, Prussia was "..the oldest Civil War Veteran in Manitowoc County when he died in 1936." He tried to enlist in Manitowoc but was refused because he was 15; he followed the troops to Milwaukee and enlisted there when he was 16. He had been a teamster before the war and worked in the supply division."
