Dean DeLance was married first to Electa Goodrich, who died on 3 December 1839.
Their son, Edward Goodrich DeLance born abt 1839, died on 04 Aug 1843. Both Electa and Edward are buried in the Boardman Cemetery, Whitehall, Washington County New York. Dean DeLance married secondly to Lucy North about 1846. When he died on 5 Apr 1858, his widow, Lucy North DeLance submitted a petition that stated, in part " That the said Dean Delance died without,children, leaving no descendants, that his father died before him, that his Mother, Ann Delance, still survives and resides at Essex, New York, that he has the following brothers and sisters: Lucy Richardson, residing at Ausable Forks, Essex County, David Delance, Essex County, Phebe Delance, wife of Ransom Eggleston, Alvin Delance also of Essex co Jane Delance, wife of Seth Nichols, of Morlah, Essex Co., Thankful Delance, Mary Delance of Chazy, N. Y., and Garrett Delance who resides without the state of New York and in one of the Western states, but which one your petitioner cannot recollect." Thankful DeLance was the sister of Dean, not his wife. Neither Thankful or her sister Mary ever married.
