Irene Shoemaker, 80, of Macon died Tuesday morning at her home.
She was born south of New Cambria, Jan. 11, 1903 to Thomas and Elizabeth Fletcher Thompson. She married Floyd Shoemaker, south of New Cambria, in August, 1920. He died Nov. 3, 1964. Mrs. Shoemaker was a lifelong resident of Macon County. She moved to Macon from Anabel in 1965.
Survivors include six children; Delbert Shoemaker of Beardstown, Ill., Ruth Isaacson of Callao, John Shoemaker of Eden, Ill., Fern Huffman of Kahoka, Robert Shoemaker of Clinton and Joe Shoemaker of Macon; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Tom Thompson, and one sister, Mina Shatto, both of New Cambria.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, one brother, five sisters and one son.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Carney Funeral Chapel in Macon. Bro. Melvin Stanton will officiate. Burial will be in the New Cambria Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
