Etha Pearl Benjamin was born in the small town of Fonda, 8 miles east of Seiling, Dewey, Oklahoma, USA. The town no longer exists, replaced by an open wheat field. Ethel married Leslie Frank Ellinger on April 16, 1919 in Tisdale, Cowley County, KS. After the death of Leslie, she married a widower and family friend, Thales Robert Cook Sr. on August 24, 1980 in Cowley County, KS. Etha died at the St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita, KS.

Survivors: daughter, Phyllis Burgoyne of Wichita; stepson, John Cook of Bodega Bay, Calif.; sister, Wilma Anderson of Ponca City, Okla.; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren. Memorial has been established with Tisdale United Methodist Church Building Fund.
