CSA KY Cavalry & part of a Confederate Secret Service Unit. He was captured July 20, 1863, sent to Camp Chase, then to Camp Douglas. Bribed a guard to escape over the wall. Recaptured and escaped, rejoined Morgan's men at Decatur, Georgia, taken prisoner again, jumped the train on way to Rock Island, Illinois Confederate Prison, escaped to Canada. Caught in hotel room with another raider and $26,200. After his release and pardon he returned home and raised high bred saddle horses, farmed, and ran a livery stable. He married Mary Harlan, cousin of famed U.S. Supreme Court Justice John M. Harlan.
