Loren was the son of Loren Day Clark & Martha Elizabeth (Dickenson) Clark.

He married Clara Faye Zerba on March 22, 1920 (divorced). They were the parents of two children, Arlene and Leonard Dean who changed his name to Jack Dean. In his latter years he was the life partner of Rachel.
