Thomas Bennett was born in Maryland January 20, 1805, and migrated to Jefferson county Ohio where he married Elizabeth Stratton, born in June 1805 In 1828,he moved his family to Gambier,Knox county Ohio. For several years after he settled in the area, he engaged in clearing land for Kenyon college, after which he turned his attention to farming which was his principal vocation until 1858, when he engaged in running a hack line and carrying mail from Gambier to Mount Vernon. He kept this job until the completion of the Cleveland, Mount Vernon & Columbus Railroad. He then went back to farming, which he followed until his death in 1880.

John 1826-1893 married Eliza Conley
Elizabeth 1829- married Evan Carpenter
Thomas 1831- married Margaret Carpenter
Mary 1833-1873 married Moses Ayers
Hannah 1834- 1921 married James Ayers
Ruth 1835- 1868 married George Dial
James 1839- married Eliza J Conklin
Rachel Ann 1841- married John Estabrook
Amos 1847- married Sarah E Rolfe
