Louise, was the daughter of Esther (De Lorenzo) and Raymond Romero. Wife of Ben Sotero Martinez. Mother of Corrine Martinez, Rita Merat and Margie Gonzales.

Grandma was a hard working woman and her beauty was equal to her kind and generous heart. I remember her singing songs in Spanish to myself and my brothers; three of us in a bed, and heading towards sleep.

She was a great cook and had many of the homespun talents missing in today's generation. She was a classy dresser and looked like she had a million dollars, even if she had given away her last nickle to someone down and out.

She married Ben Martinez while in her teens, and the marriage while turbulent, produced children who went on to raise families of their own.

Louise worked many years as a professional waitress and even in later years, she could outwork those many years younger then she.

Louise was restless, and lived in Denver, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, New Mexico. It seemed as if she were chasing some illusive happiness, never to be found in her mortal existence.

She died of a heart attack in the home of her deceased parents, not long after a visit by her then ex-husband, Ben Martinez.
