Marie was born and raised in Sperryville, VA before moving to Martinsburg, WV in 2010. She had a passion for the outdoors where she loved to plant and pick flowers and watch the butterflies and birds. Momma enjoyed cooking, cleaning and caring for others. Above all, she loved and cherished her children tremendously and will be remembered by them as the “Greatest Mom on Earth”.
She is survived by her three children, Robert B. “Bobby” Brown of Washington, VA, Larry W. Brown of Woodville, VA and Tanya G. Bass Brown of Martinsburg, WV; two siblings, Rebecca “Becky” Menefee of Houston, TX, Billy Alther of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include her grandchildren, Amanda Brown, Bobbie Jo Brown, Jayla Marie Bass, Jovon Bruce Bass and Justin Kirk Bass; and her great grandchildren, Malik, Carter, Thomas, Nolan, Malachi, Bentley and Ryland Brown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Bruce Brown; and one brother, Jonas Alther; and one sister, Annie Jefferies.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 2 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Chaplain Doug Knupp officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 1 pm.
Interment will follow in Sperryville Cemetery.
