Rudolph John Bartol, for a number of years superintendent of the Municipal Hospital, died yesterday morning at 11 o'clock at his residence on the Water Works Road. He was 51 years old and had been in failing health for some time.
Mr. Bartol was a native of Trieste, then part of Austria, and had resided in this section 32 years. He had many friends in all walks of life. His work at the Municipal Hospital has frequently won the praise of his superiors and others.
He was a past grand knight of Norfolk Council No. 367, Knights of Columbus, a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Norfolk lodge No. 38, B. P. O. Elks, and the Woodmen of the World.
Mr. Bartol is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jannie Parr Bartol; four sons, Francis V. Bartol, Rudolph Gaston Bartol, Joseph E. Bartol, and Lawrence Herbert Bartol; a daughter, Miss Dorothy V. Bartol; a grandson, Rudolph William Bartol, all of Princess Anne County; three sisters and a brother, all of Italy, and several nieces and nephews.
The body is now at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, and rosary services will be held there tonight at 7:30 o'clock. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
