Charles Frederick Linderman was born in Philadelphia County PA on February 10, 1851. His parents, Jacob Linderman and Josephine Woster, were both born in Germany and immigrated to the United States in about 1847. The family moved from Pennsylvania, to Illinois, and then Iowa, where Charlie met Lettie Jane Wiley. They married in Iowa in 1871, moved to Nodaway County Missouri, then to Nebraska. After a short detour to North Dakota, they returned to Nebraska making their homes in Merrick and Gage Counties. They had five children, Charles Rita, Ora Lee, Frank Leroy, Artie, and Maud.
