Marcel Julee Birdsall 1922 ~ 2006
Marcel Julee Birdsall passed away at the age of 84, August 10, 2006, at her son's home in West Jordan.
She was born January 26, 1922 in Macedonia, Pottawattamie County, Iowa the daughter of Clyde Richards Miller and Opal Cynthia Hobson.

There were six other children in her family, Richard, Nathan, Stanley, Bonnie, Mark, and Philip.
There was singing and piano playing in the Miller home as Julee grew up.
Her high school years were busy times with school activities such as basketball games, music contests, declamatory contests, and plays, plus learning to play the organ for church.
She was surprised when her name was announced as valedictorian of her high school class, but felt that her parents were comforted during those bleak Depression years by their children's accomplishments.
Her dad's arthritis got so bad that the doctor advised him to move to a warmer climate.

He got a job at Douglas Aircraft Company in Southern California and sent for the family to join him.
Julee got a job at North American Aviation Company, where she worked throughout the remainder of World War II.
The Sunday before she started work, she went to choir practice with her brother, Mark, and met her future husband, Bill Birdsall, who was singing in the choir.
The next day she went to work and there again was Bill, working in the same department at North American.
When she saw him, she knew Bill was the one she was to marry.
On November 15, 1942, they were married in the Inglewood Methodist Church.

Bill was in the Coast Guard at this time, so they had very little time together.
He was shipped to various Coast Guard Stations and was in Lake Ozette, WA when their first child, Sharon Elizabeth, was born in 1943.
Their second child, Mark William, was born in 1953 after Bill had graduated from Loyola Law School.
After World War II was over, Julee's life's work was being a wife and mother. She spent countless hours with her children, helping them when they were sick and playing with them when they were well.
She had a great sense of humor that would often relieve difficult situations. She would play basketball with Mark and his friends and go golfing with her trusty putter. She loved playing the organ and often shared that talent at church.
For their 25th anniversary, Bill surprised her with a Wurlitzer organ that she treasured for the rest of her life.
At the age of 51, Julee joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later, she was sealed for time and all eternity to her sweetheart in the Los Angeles Temple and also to her beloved children.
When Bill was transferred to Salt Lake City, they bought a home in Provo, Utah. Following Bill's retirement, Bill and Julee served together as temple workers in the Provo Temple.

Julee's motto for living was "Have fun along the way" and she exemplified that quality, through her constant poise and good humor.

Charity never faileth, and neither did she.
Julee is survived by her sister, Bonnie (Prescott); brother, Mark Miller; daughter, Sherry; son, Mark; daughter-in-law, Kathy, grandchildren, Adam (Aimee), Emily (Jon White), Mary, Daniel, Ben, James, Anne, and Sarah Birdsall; and her great-granddaughter, Allison Rosemary White.

The family would like to say a special thanks for the loving ministrations of the staff of Hearts for Hospice, and also Nicol Ericsen.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, August 15, 11 a.m. at the Grandview 16th Ward chapel, 1260 West 1150 North Provo, Utah.

Friends may call at the chapel one hour prior to services.

Services are under the direction of Berg Mortuary of Provo, Utah.
