Joseph C. Bowser
GROVE CITY - Joseph C. Bowser, 72, of RD 1 was dead on arrival at Bashline memorial Hospital yesterday at 7:50 a.m.
He was born in Sherret, Armstrong County, March 6, 1899 to the late Jonathan and Mary Bowser. He was married to the former Hazel Knauff, who survives.
Mr. Bowser was a member of the West Unity UP Church of Harrisville and the Hemlock Grange. He retired in 1965 from the Turner Brothers Coal co. and prior to the he worked for the Bowie Coal Co. for 20 years.
Surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Belinsky of Harrisville, five sons, Elmer and Charles of Harrisville, Thomas of Grove City, Joseph of Sharpsville and Russell of Fredonia; four step-daughters. Mrs. Edna White and Mrs. Sylvia Wansitler of New Castle. Mrs. Ruth Hedglin of Marwood, Pa, and Mrs. Erla Schneider of Butler; two brothers, Anthony of Slippery Rock and Harry of Butler; 32 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his first wife, the former Mary Hannah Crissman, who died in 1949.
Funeral Services will be in the Cunningham Funeral Home in Grove City at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Conducted by the Rev. Paul Smalley of West Unity UP Church.
Burial will be in the Crestview Cemetery, Grove City.
Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
