ARMY VETERAN- WW2- PRIVATE FIRST CLASS

A memorial service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at George Boom Funeral.

James Edward Brown, son of Raymond and Mabel (Johnson) Brown was born December 16, 1928 in Bryant, SD. He grew up in Bryant, SD and received his education there.

James entered the United States Army on September 19, 1946 in Omaha, NE. His decorations and citations include Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He held the rank of a Private First Class. He was honorably discharged on January 19, 1948 in Stoneman, CA.

James was united in marriage with Linda Shook January 28, 1961 in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls, SD where James worked construction for numerous contractors before becoming employed with the City of Sioux Falls. He retired after 25 years of service.

James enjoyed fishing, gardening and any type of yard work. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Linda Brown, Sioux Falls, SD; two daughters, Christy Jo Jensen and friend, John Austin, Baltic, SD, Jackie Jensen, and her husband, Ward, Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren, Kaylene Akes and her husband, David, Kimberly Jensen, Jessica Jensen, Tara Jensen, all of Sioux Falls, SD, Kelsey Jensen and Jesse James Austin, Baltic, SD; two brothers, Clint Brown, Janesville, WI, John Brown, and his wife, Grace, Bryant, SD; a sister, Cheryl Schuette and her husband, Lowen, Lancing, MI; and a host of other relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by three brothers, Bob, Bill, Dick, a sister, Geneva and his parents.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for fellowship at DJ's Bar 7605 E. Highway 42, following the lunch at George Boom Funeral Home.
