Mrs. Valentine, age 88, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Alexandria, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2005 at Unlimited Care Personal Care Home, Houston, Texas.
She was a native of Kinder, La., and was reared in Evergreen, La. She lived for many years in Alexandria, was employed by the U.S. Selective Service Board and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mrs. Valentine was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Valentine; her parents, Dr. Henry Buck and Anna Merrick Buck; and five siblings.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda St. Andre and husband Billy of Natchitoches, Carolyn Hebble and husband David of Spring, Texas and Linda Ward and husband Wayne of Pollock; eight grandchildren, Meredith St. Andre Artigue and husband Jeremy of Horse Cave, Ky., Susan St. Andre Yocum and husband Andy of Natchitoches, Lt. Greg St. Andre, USN of Gainesville, Fla., Erica Hebble of Spring, Texas, AFC Steven Hebble of Nellis AFB, Nev., R. Brandon Padgett of Pollock, Jeffrey Padgett and wife Angela of Ball and Kristen Ward of Pollock; two great-grandchildren, Chris Berry of Natchitoches and Colton Padgett of Ball; one sister, Anna Copeland and husband Charlie of Laguna Hills, Calif.; special nephew, John H. Barkley, Jr. of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law, Margie Valentine of Dry Prong; brothers-in-law, O.D. Valentine, Drew Valentine and wife Katherine, all of Alexandria; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
