DENVER F. STOCKHAM
---Denver F. Stockham, age 75, of Atlanta, Missouri, died Monday (January 31, 1994) at the Veterans Administration Hospital, in Columbia, Missouri.
---Born on December 18, 1918, at Novelty, Missouri, he was the son of Edwin and Amanda (Dutton) Stockham. On June 16, 1946, at Novelty, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Addie Jane Johnson, who survives.
---Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Bonita Stockham, of Macon, Missouri; one granddaughter, Amanda Stockham, of Macon, Missouri; one brother, Otto Stockham, of Shelbyville, Missouri; one sister, Edith Manning, of La Plata, Missouri; two nephews; one niece; and cousins.
---He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carl Stockham.
---Mr. Stockham attended school in Knox County. After his marriage, he resided in La Plata before moving to Atlanta, Missouri, in 1949. He had been employed with the McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Company, in St. Louis, Missouri, for eighteen years and had been involved in the construction of the spacecraft which was flown by Colonel John Glenn. He had been in failing health for several years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #290, of Novelty, Missouri, the La Plata Masonic Lodge #237, AF & AM, the Atlanta Christian Church, and past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Corp.
---Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m, this evening (Wednesday, February 2, 1994) at the Elliott Funeral Home.
---Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday (February 3, 1994) at the Elliott Funeral Home, Atlanta, Missouri, with Brother Jeff Jordan, of the Atlanta Christian Church officiating. Music will be provided by Carolyn Reed and Phyllis Jordan singing "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art". They will be accompanied by Sue Cavender, organist.
---Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, at Clarence, Missouri, with military rites being held at the graveside. Pallbearers will be members of the Novelty American Legion Post #290.
