Irene was born April 2, 1916, in North Hampton, Illinois, the daughter of William and Adah [Bell] Hall Burns. She married Ralph R. Carver on October 10, 1935, in Hennepin. He died December 27, 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna (Bill) Kirby of Peoria, IL, and Phyllis (Jay) Smith-Fryrear of Morris, IL; 9 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Martha) Lowery, Scott (Connie) Lowery, Steve (Lovie) Lowery, Roger (Sharon) Lowery, Rodney (Jackie) Lowery, John Lowery, Janice (Ron) Carter, Craig Smith, and Brad (Kelli) Smith; 12 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Osborne of Chillicothe, IL, one sister–in-law, Irene Calmer of California; and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, one sister and four brothers preceded her in death.
Irene was a long-time member of Royal Neighbors Club. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, in which her specialty was her noodles.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville. Rev. Ardith Corsaw will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral services. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, Dunlap.
