Janese A. Dotterer, 64, rural Stryker, passed away Saturday, September, 4, 2010, at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Prior to her retirement, Janese had taught at Stryker High School for 30 years. She was an adjunct professor of mathematics at Defiance College for 10 years.

Janese was born in Paulding, Ohio, on November 13, 1945, the daughter of the late Jethro and the late Marguerite (Baumle) Dotterer. She was a member of the West Unity United Methodist Church. Janese attended and graduated from Paulding, Ohio, High School. She obtained her undergraduate degree at Defiance College and her master's degree at the University of Oregon in 1972. She was an artist with her wood working projects and she was also a drummer for many of the orchestra presentations in the local area.

Janese is survived by her brother, James and sister-in-law Judith Dotterer of Olympia, Washington; and three nephews, Jed Dotterer and family of Otsego, Minnesota, Lt. Col. (retired) Joel Dotterer and family of Lacy, Washington, and Major Jonathan Dotterer and family of Minneapolis, Minnesota; along with many life-long friends in the Stryker area.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the personnel at the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center for their care and caring.

A celebration of Janese's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in West Unity, with the Rev. James Nathan officiating. Interment will be in the Live Oak Cemetery in Paulding.
