John Brantl, who died Saturday, was born at Domazlice, Bohemia, in May, 1855 to George Brantl and Katherine Sloup. With his mother and brother, Joseph, he immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio in 1870. There he met and married Marie Sindelar in 1875. They lived in Ohio until their moved to Tabor, MN in 1880, where they spent the rest of their lives. John was a farmer and was active in Tabor community life.
Preceding him in death were his mother and three of his children: Emma Sirek (1876-1931),Ludmilla Jerik(1886-1918), and John(1894-1901). His wife survived him, as did eight children; Edward, Charles, Louis, Jerry, Albert, Tillie Maruska, Sylvia Novacek, and Bessie Hoffman.
John and Mary Brantl reared Ludmilla's children (Charles, Tillie, and Emil Jerik) after her death and Albert's daughter, Betty, after her mother's death.
