Janie, 80, of Oakdale entered eternal rest on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at her residence. She was born in Dermott, Ark., on Aug. 19, 1930, to the union of John and Fausta Watkins Hogan. She grew up in Bastrop and lived most of her adult life in Oakdale, where she and her husband, Bob, raised their four children. Janie worked at Mowad-Nesom Clinic for many years. She also served on the Civil Service Board and the board of directors for the Oakdale Housing Authority. Janie was a faithful member of St. John Episcopal Church for 50 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob McLain; brother, Roscoe Hogan; son, Stewart Hanks; and son-in-law, Claude Devall .
She is survived by her three daughters, Cele Devall of Lake Charles, Missy Lawrence (Raymond) of Woodworth and Dr. Elizabeth McLain of Lafayette; four grandchildren, T. Claude Devall (Abby), Courtney Devall, Chad Lawrence (Marlo) and Curt Lawrence; and two great-grandchildren, Destini Lawrence and Conner Devall.
Friends may call 5-9 p.m. today, Sept. 8, and from 9 a.m. Thursday.
