Melville Julien Dies Suddenly
Melville I. Julien, better known to his many friends as "Mell" Julien passed away at his home in Wolcott Friday morning January 18th, death coming with shocking suddeess. He has been in failing health for a long time but was able to be up and about to the evenning before his death. During the night he became ill and a physician was summoned who prescribed for him and later in the morning ws called a second time, but he had reached a state where no remedies were of avail and he passed away even while the physician was present.
He was a well known man here where he spent many years, and was respected and admired for his pleasing and cheerful mannerism. The funeral service was held at the Presbyterian churcn on Sunday at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Henry officiating.
The following obituary was read at the service: Melville I. Julien, son of William Erin and Orelia Julien, was born near Sheldon Illinois and here spent his early life.
On February 3, 1897 he was united in marriage with Georgia E. Haselby and to this union was born two children, Ivan Vernon and ORessa Blanche. They took up their married life on a farm south of Sheldon, later moving to a farm south of Remington. In 1920 he started working for the State Highway, which job he held until his health failed him.
He has been a patient sufferer for two years, always having a smile and a kind word for everyone. His motto was the Golden Rule, which he kept faithfully until he was quietly called to meet his Savior on Friday, January 19th at the age of 57 years 11 months and 21 days.
He is not gone, he's just away.
He leaves to mourn his widow of Wolcott, a son, Ivan V. of Brownstown, a daughter, Mrs. Paul Banes of Remington, and two brothers, Cecile of Sheldon, Illinois and Loren of Beverley Hills, California, beside a host of friends and neighbors.
