Ernest Ashens, s/o John Ashens and Anna Shepherd was b. at Joplin, Missouri. His father got Miner's Tuberculosis and was sent to the hospital at Nevada, Missouri, where he died, when Ernest was about 6 years old. Ernest was raised from about 6 years to 16 years by his Aunt Delia and Uncle Charles Barnard in Wellington, Kansas. Ernest returned to Joplin, Missouri. He married Dorothy Eagles. Ernest died Sept. 14, 1983 at Joplin, Mo. and was buried in Ozark Memorial Cemetery, Joplin, Mo. They had no children.
