Graveside services and burial will be pri vate at the convenience of the family in Manchester Lutheran Cemetery. The Etzweil er Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ness was born Feb. 28, 1912, in Cly. She was the daughter of the late Eugene I. and Catharine S. (Shelley) Stumpf.
She was a cook at the rectory for the priests of St. Patrick Catholic Church from 1970 to 1974; prior to that, she was a sales clerk for the former Weist's Department Store in York. She was a 1929 graduate of William Penn Senior High School; a former member of Advent Lutheran Church; a former Girl Scout leader in York; and a former member of Pleasureville American Legion Post 799 Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Ness is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Gentzler of Spring Grove and Shelley J. Hoffman-Doyle of Shiloh; 11 grandchil dren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ness was preceded in death by a son, James G. Ness III.
Officiating at the service will be Jerry Shoap, pastor of Hanover First Church of God.
