Wallace Martin Alpers, 80, of Cole Camp, died Monday, August 23, 2010, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia. He was born on June 21, 1930, at Fairbury, Illinois, a son of Martin and Anna Marie (Hessenius) Alpers, Jr.

On September 4, 1954, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chenoa, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Bayles. This union was blessed with the gift of a son, Samuel.

He was baptized at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa, IL, where he remained a member.

He ran the family dairy farm and had worked as a credit manager and quality control inspector for Pittsburgh International in Fairbury.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by: his wife, Dorothy Alpers of the home; one son, Samuel Martin Alpers of Olathe, KS; one brother, Norman Alpers and his wife Kay of Reckton, IL; and one grandson, Jordan Trevor Alpers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Jr. and Anna Marie Alpers.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cole Camp with Pastor Jody Rice officiating.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Spence Cemetery, Fairbury, IL.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Good Samaritan Care Center in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
